Mac & Cheese
vxdaMacaroni cheese (Mac and Cheese) is a classic American dish featuring pasta baked with a flavorful cheese sauce.
Ingredients
- 250 g spiral pasta
- 7 cm baguette
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 pcs garlic
- 1 tsp mustard
- 2 tbsp wheat flour
- ⅔ l milk
- 200 g shredded cheddar cheese
- 40 g grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.

Dice the baguette into small cubes. Combine these cubes with 0.5 tablespoons of softened or melted butter, then season with salt and pepper. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside. Do not turn off the oven.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook for 2 minutes less than the time specified on the packaging. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.

Prepare the sauce: In a saucepan, melt the remaining 1.5 tablespoons of butter. Add the garlic, pressed through a press, and the mustard. Stir the ingredients, then incorporate the flour, mixing with a whisk. Gradually pour in the milk, continuously and vigorously whisking until a smooth sauce forms. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in the grated cheddar cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted.

Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and mix well. Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish. Sprinkle with the toasted baguette croutons, and finally, scatter the grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley.
