Fusilli Pasta with Chicken in Mild Tomato-Cream Sauce
vxdaA hearty one-pot dinner for the whole family — pieces of chicken in a creamy tomato and cream sauce, mild in flavor and loved by children.
Ingredients

- 1 pcs onion

- 400 g canned diced tomato
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 200 ml sour cream
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano

Rinse the chicken breast, pat dry with paper towels, and cut into cubes of about 2 centimeters.

Peel the onion and chop it into small dice, and press the garlic through a garlic press or mince very finely.

Set a large pot of water with a tablespoon of salt for the pasta.

Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken pieces and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring, until the meat is white on all sides and lightly browned.

Add the onion and sauté together with the chicken for 3 minutes, until translucent.

Add the garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds, stirring, so it doesn't burn.

At the same time, add the pasta to the boiling, salted water and cook according to the package instructions, until al dente.

Add the tomato paste to the chicken and onion and mix, sauté for a minute, until slightly darkened.

Pour in the canned tomatoes, add the sugar, basil, and oregano, mix, and simmer over low heat for 8 minutes.

Pour in the cream, stir gently, and heat for another 2 to 3 minutes over low heat, so it doesn't curdle.

Taste and season with salt and a little pepper.

Drain the cooked pasta, reserving half a glass of the pasta water.

Transfer the pasta to the skillet with the sauce and mix, and if the sauce is too thick, add some of the pasta water.

Serve on plates, sprinkle with grated cheese and chopped parsley, and serve immediately.
Notes
If your child doesn't like visible pieces of onion, grate it instead of chopping it — it will dissolve in the sauce.
- For a lactose-free version, replace the cream with coconut cream or an 18% vegetable alternative.
- The sauce is great for freezing — make a larger portion of just the sauce with chicken and reheat with freshly cooked pasta.
